Mikel Arteta's next move after Liverpool loss revealed as Arsenal tipped to sign Dusan Vlahovic

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Carrick to take charge against Arsenal

Arsenal face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League at the beginning of December and the hosts won't have Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the dugout.

This is following the decision to sack the Norwegian on Sunday morning and install Michael Carrick in temporary charge.

And amid talk of United targeting former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to succeed the Norwegian, it has been confirmed that the former midfielder will be taking on Mikel Arteta.

"Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season," a statement via the club website reads.

Arteta's next move revealed

Arsenal’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday evening highlighted the need to move away from the 4-4-2 system in big games.

Although as explained by the Arsenal Way, it should not be abandoned completely.

The formation has been very successful for Arteta of late, but only in the games where Arsenal are expected to dominate and that is never going to happen against this Liverpool side.

Despite starting with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette up top, Arsenal rarely threatened which meant Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip had a pretty comfortable evening.

As a result, it meant that Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga weren't able to win the midfield battle and the rest is history.

Arsenal tipped to sign Vlahovic

Sticking with the topic of strikers, it's clear that Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic would be a dream signing for many Arsenal supporters.

The Serbia international scored twice in a 4-3 win over AC Milan on Saturday night, taking his tally for the season to 12 for the season across all competitions.

In the process, it sparked a huge reaction from some Arsenal fans on social media, urging Arteta and technical director Edu to get a deal done for the £45m-rated striker, as per transfermarkt.
