Mikel Arteta's honest take on how much he will rotate against Leeds United

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta insists he and his players will be taking Monday evening's FA Cup third-round tussle with Leeds United at Emirates Stadium seriously.

Leeds will put their Championship promotion aspirations to one side on Monday night as they square up to the Gunners for the first time since January 2012.

These days, the FA Cup is often seen as a distraction by a lot of Premier League clubs, with England's elite often placing a firmer focus on the Premier League and European competitions.

Arsenal, who have won the FA Cup a record 13 times, will not be taking the oldest club competition in the world lightly. The Gunners are out of the title race and Carabao Cup, meaning the FA Cup is their only hope of landing any domestic silverware this term.

On just how seriously the Londoners will take the meeting with Marcelo Bielsa's Whites, Gunners chief Arteta explained: "Absolutely. I would like to have more fit players so I can rotate more, but we will see what we have after tomorrow (Friday).

"But obviously it is a competition that is very attached to this football club in recent years and we have to try to go to the next round."

Arsenal crashed out of the competition at the fourth-round stage last season, losing 3-1 to Manchester United, whilst Leeds were dumped out at the third-round stage, going down 2-1 to QPR at Loftus Road.
