Mikel Arteta's first Manchester City return comes at the worst possible time for Arsenal

Pep Guardiola will decide after a training session on Wednesday whether to include three key Manchester City players in his squad to face Arsenal.

Injuries have impacted City's hopes of retaining the Premier League title this season, but it would appear their worries are easing up just in time for their attempts to retain the FA Cup and win the Champions League.

When asked for the injury status on his squad ahead of the clash against the Gunners, Guardiola revealed that both Aymeric Laporte and Kevin De Bruyne are in training but couldn't confirm if either would feature.

Mikel Arteta on his knowledge of Manchester City

"Let me think. Laporte, Kevin training last two days. I don’t know if they will be able to play tomorrow," he said in his pre-match press conference, as per the Manchester Evening News . "We'll have another session tomorrow and the rest will be okay.

Guardiola then delivered an encouraging update on Leroy Sane who made his return to action in a U23's game against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium recently.

"He's getting better every week," Guardiola added. "He's training. He's not injured.

"We are going to decide but he was ready weeks ago.

"I have many thoughts [on whether he will play].

"All good thoughts."

This means City virtually have a clean bill of health ahead of welcoming the Gunners to the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero is fine despite needing treatment after coming off against Manchester United, while Bernardo Silva and Oleksandr Zinchenko changes were simply tactical.

As a result, this could be the worst possible time for Arsenal to face the defending champions.

Not only are City looking to delay the inevitable of Liverpool's title win, they are also looking to bounce back from losing the derby at Old Trafford and move seven points clear in second place.

They look set to do all of this with a fully fit squad - something which Guardiola has not had the luxury of all season and that could be bad news for Arteta and the Gunners.
