Mikel Arteta's dream Arsenal starting line-up as Gabriel Jesus completes transfer from Man City

Arsenal have strengthened a key area of their squad as the club confirmed the £45million signing of Man City forward Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners have replaced the outgoing Alexandre Lacazette with Jesus, with the Brazilian striker reuniting with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates. Arsenal's technical director Edu has been working on completing a deal for Jesus for months after holding positive talks with the 25-year-old's camp.

The arrival of Erling Haaland at the Etihad would have limited Jesus' first team opportunities next season, and with just a year left on his contract, the Gunners have managed to secure the Brazilian's signature and strengthen their attack ahead of next season. Arsenal will need strength in depth in all areas of their squad with domestic and European competitions to deal with next season, with more signings expected before the transfer deadline following Jesus' announcement.

City boss Pep Guardiola afforded the Brazilian more opportunities last season, starting him in a number of high profile games including both legs of their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. His faith in Jesus was justified with the Sky Blues forward showing his ability, scoring 13 goals and notching 12 assists last term.

So often an understudy in Manchester, he will now get the opportunity to be Arteta's first choice striker and show what he’s really capable of following his move to north London. With that said, what could Arteta's starting XI look like for the season opener against Crystal Palace?

Here, we take a look at how Arsenal could line up next season with the Brazilian striker in the side:

GK: Aaron Ramsdale

RB: Takerhiro Tomiyasu

CB: Ben White

CB: Gabriel

LB: Kieran Tierney

RCM: Thomas Partey

LCM: Granit Xhaka

RW: Bukayo Saka

CAM: Martin Odegaard

LW: Gabriel Martinelli

ST: Gabriel Jesus
