Mikel Arteta has said that he is positive that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will stay at Arsenal.
Come June 30, the Gunners skipper will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium and recent reports of the striker being offered an extension have been disputed.
In fact, Aubameyang has confirmed that nothing has been decided over his future and suggested the ball is in the club's court.
"Recently I haven't received an offer but of course there have been discussions with the club," he told French outlet Telefoot. "It's them [the club] who have the keys and for them to do their work.
"Afterwards, we will see what happens.
"It is a turning point in my career. I have been very frank with everyone. It will be of course a very difficult decision to make.
"It is possibly the most important decision of my career.
"But so far nothing has been decided."
Speaking ahead of his side's Premier League clash against Manchester City on Wednesday, Arteta has outlined what the Gunners must do to convince the 30-year-old to sign a new deal.
"I think it's our responsibility to make him feel this is the right next step in his career," he said in his pre-match press conference.
"In order to do that he needs to feel valued, that he belongs to us and we want him and then he needs to continue to believe that we can take this club forward in the way we want to and that he's going to be a key player to do that.
"I think at the moment I'm extremely happy with how he has been performing and behaving.
"I think I've got a really good relationship with him where we can discuss face-to-face a lot of things.
"So far, as I'm aware, I think he's very happy at the club.
"In a different context we'd have liked to do things much quicker.
"We were really tight with time and communication and obviously these unprecedented times bring a lot of uncertainty.
"These are getting clearer and clearer every day."
