Mikel Arteta reveals details of conversation with Josh Kroenke ahead of Arsenal's win against Brighton

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal director Josh Kroenke wants to take the club to 'the next level'.

Arsenal fans protested against the Kroenke ownership ahead of the Gunners final Premier League match of the season against Brighton on Sunday.

It comes after the European Super League fiasco in which Arsenal signed up for the competition, before withdrawing 48 hours following fan and government pressure.

Kroenke had previously insisted at a Fans' Forum that he would be backing Arteta this summer, telling supporters that he's 'excited' about the club's summer plans.

"The same that he says every time we are on the phone," said Arteta when asked what Kroenke said to him ahead of the game.

"He’s very supportive very passionate about the club he wants to take the club to a different level and that’s why he’s here."

Kroenke made a visit to Arsenal's London Colney training ground on Friday where he briefed players and staff, while he sat next to chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and non executive director Tim Lewis during the 2-0 win over Graham Potter's side.

football.london understands that that several of the Arsenal supporter groups feel Josh Kroenke's "offer" at Friday's fans' forum was "nowhere near" what they expected and "doesn't come close" to other clubs.

The Gunners are expected to have a busy summer with several incomings and outgoings likely.
