Arsenal boss has given an update on the condition of young Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson after he missed the Premier League clash against Sheffield United with a hamstring injury.
The 20-year-old has made 10 appearances in the Premier League so far this season after returning from a loan spell in the Bundesliga during the 2018/19 campaign.
The youngster scored his first two goals for the club when he netted in the Carabao Cup tie against Nottingham Forest. The winger also scored the winning goal in the 1-0 FA Cup victory over Leeds United just a couple of weeks ago.
Nelson was named in the starting lineup for Mikel Arteta's first two league games in charge of Arsenal, but has made appearances from the bench in recent weeks, coming on in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the last league game.
However he was left out of the squad entirely for the match against Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium after picking up an injury in training.
When asked about the condition of the player in his post-match press conference, Arteta hinted that the injury could mean that Nelson has an extended spell on the sidelines.
"We had an incident in training and the doctor is still deciding how long it's going to take but it's not looking good," he said.
Earlier in the week Arteta spoke of Nelson's potential at Arsenal.
"I wouldn't like to compare, what I will say is that Reiss has the potential to do whatever he wants," he said on comparisons between the youngster and Manchester City wingers.
"If he wants to do it, wants to learn and wants to challenge himself he can be a top, top player for this football club."
How long Nelson could be out for is still unknown.
