Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury to Bukayo Saka.
The 19-year-old was a standout performer as Arsenal held on for a 0-0 draw away at Leeds. He was introduced just after Nicolas Pepe's red card and looked a threat on the counter throughout. He could have even scored a winner late on but couldn't beat Ilian Meslier when through one-on-one.
However, he went down in injury time clutching his knee following a challenge with Stuart Dallas and had to be replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
After the match, Mikel Arteta provided an update on the fitness of the England international.
"We'll have to assess how bad it is but it looks a pretty bad challenge and he was in pain," he said.
It's a sad way to end what had been a positive fortnight for Saka. The youngster featured in all three of England's games over the international break and was man of the match during the 3-0 victory against Republic of Ireland.
To add to that he was also ranked in ninth for the UEFA Golden Boy Award, three places above Mason Greenwood of Manchester United.
Arsenal will be hoping that injury to Saka is not too serious as he has been one of their best players so far this season.
On top of that it would also leave the Gunners' squad stretched to the very limits in terms of numbers.
Thomas Partey was unavailable for the game on Sunday after failing to recover in time from the thigh strain he picked up in the Gunners' 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
Mohamed Elneny and Sead Kolasinac were also unavailable after testing positive for COVID-19 following while on international duty with Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively.
Mikel Arteta will now be without Nicolas Pepe for three games as well after he was sent off for an off-the-ball incident with Leeds' Ezgjan Alioski.
After the game, the Spaniard expressed his frustration at how the lack of available players had impacted his side's performance at Elland Road.
"I'm cross because I want to win," he said. "We had a difficult week because we lost two players who were away, two players through injuries and suspension."
Arteta will now have some tough decisions to make ahead of Arsenal's trip to Molde in the Europa League on Thursday. It's the first in a tough run of fixtures that will see the Gunners face Wolves and Tottenham within their next four matches.
