Mikel Arteta provides updates on Thomas Partey, Kieran Tierney and Aubameyang ahead of Benfica tie

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Kieran Tierney has travelled with the Gunners squad to Rome ahead of Thursday's Europa League match against Benfica.

Tierney has missed the last five Premier League matches for the Gunners, as well as the FA Cup fourth round defeat to Southampton.

Speaking after the win over Leeds on Sunday, Arteta revealed that Tierney was the most likely to make his return this week compared to Thomas Partey who is set for another week on the sidelines.

"Thomas [Partey] didn't travel, he's not there yet. He's still training individually. Kieran has had one session with us and is part of the squad," said Arteta in his pre-match press conference.

Arteta was asked about captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after a video on Instagram showed the striker getting a tattoo.

It is unclear when the incident took place or if the Gabon international breached coronavirus rules and Arteta confirmed that the matter has been dealt with internally.

"No whatever we do with our players we keep it internally. It's true that a lot of members of our squad have extended family at home. If any player does something that is not in the regulation the club acts immediately, but also privately as well."

"We try to advise every player and make sure they know all the rules and we stick to the rules all the time. If someone doesn't do it then obviously we have to act immediately on it.

"Again, I cannot tell you who every player lives with but we do, and when somebody does anything that shouldn't be done then obviously we will find out are there will be consequences. And if not, there won't be."

Aubameyang has travelled and is part of the squad to face Benfica on Thursday night.
