Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the fitness of Kieran Tierney.
The Scottish international has now missed the last five out of the last six games for Arsenal with an injury to his right calf.
He was absent again for the defeat to Wolves at Molineux as a nine man Gunners side went down 2-1.
And now Arteta has provided the lastest on the fitness of his first choice left back.
"He wasn’t close at all," said the Spaniard when asked if Tierney had been in close contention for the match.
"Hopefully in the next few days he feels much better and he can come in the team and help us in this moment where we have so many games."
Tierney has been a standout performer for the Gunners this season and until recently had created their most chances from open play despite being a left back.
His continued absence leaves the Gunners a little light in the position after Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles left the club on loan in the January transfer window.
Cedric Soares has filled in there recently but struggled up against the pace of Adama Traore at Molineux.
Arsenal will hope to have Tierney back for the game against Aston Villa on Saturday, but they will be wary of rushing him back after having their fingers burnt already with Thomas Partey's injury at Tottenham in December.
