Arsenal were unable to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night - but manager Mikel Arteta hopes one moment of the game could ensure that soon changes.
Captain and key man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally ended a run of 648 minutes without a Premier League goal at home to bag the equaliser against Southampton.
Aubameyang’s struggles have highlighted Arsenal ’s attacking frustrations during a tough campaign.
But Arteta hopes the Gabonese international finally finding the net can be a moment which kick-starts his season and, in turn, changes the Gunners’ fortunes moving forwards.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “Hopefully it’s going to change everything and he will start to score every game.
“This is what we need at the moment.
“We need the points, in order to do that we need more goals and to be more efficient when we have the chances so I think it’s gonna make him good.”
Asked if he saw a weight lifted from Aubameyang’s shoulders after the game, he added: “I don’t have to see it.
“I'm sure it’s gonna take a lot of pressure of him and it’s going to release him as well.”
Despite finally ending his drought, Aubameyang insisted the game was far from about his goal as he expressed frustration at having to settle for a point.
He told Amazon Prime Video: “I think tonight is not about my goal and me, it’s about the team. We need points and it doesn’t matter if I score, the most important thing is to win games and get points.
“I think at the moment when things go wrong I just stay in my path and I work a lot. I try to give my advice inside. I was not talking a lot these few weeks but I am here and I want to talk on the pitch.”
