Mikel Arteta pinpoints key factors behind his decision over Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah

Mikel Arteta has admitted he now faces a tough decision whether to start Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah up front at Manchester City.

Nketiah has started all three of Arsenal's Premier League games since returning from the winter break - and their FA Cup clash with Portsmouth - and scored twice.

Despite starting on the bench Lacazette has been finding form since the break and made his best cameo yet in the win over West Ham. He took a few minutes to sync up with his teammates but once he did, the Frenchman was a threat.

Spinning away from defenders to supply runners, engaging them when the ball was played into him and the volleying home to win the game, he couldn't do much else while on the pitch.

Mikel Arteta press conference ahead of Manchester City

"Yeah (Lacazette is giving him a selection headache), but not for the fact that he scored, it's the way that he trains every day. The way that he's trying, the way he played even when he wasn't scoring," he said in his pre-match press conference .

"He's always at his best (in) training. His attitude is top and same with Eddie (Nketiah) so they all have a chance."

Against West Ham, Nketiah didn't seem to fit the game as well as Lacazette did. Facing Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop, he couldn't overpower them or find much space in behind as they sat so deep.

This limited him to very few chances on the day. The best chance he had would almost certainly have been a goal as the ball bounced up for him just inside the box but Mesut Ozil stole it from the 20-year-old.

After the game, Arteta insisted he was pleased with both Lacazette and Nketiah now that they were finding form.

"I have two strikers at the moment that are making life difficult for me but at the same time it's very good," he said in his post-match press conference .

"They are both scoring, they are both in a good moment. I decided to play Eddie today for the type of defenders they had and the game plan we had but knowing that we needed Laca in the final moments (and) he was ready to do that.

"I saw it straight away the moment I was talking with him, giving him instructions on the touchline, he was alert, focused and I could see in his face he was really determined to come out there and score the goal like he did."
