Mikel Arteta outlines the six things Arsenal must change after penning new contract

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract at Arsenal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2024/25 season. In what is a huge show of faith from the club, the Spaniard has signed a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, following an impressive campaign from the Gunners that could end with them finishing in a Champions League place for the first time in five years.

Arsenal are currently two points ahead of north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race for top four. There are difficult games ahead, however, especially as the Gunners have to play Spurs at their ground on May 12 in what is arguably the biggest North London Derby in years.

Qualifying for the Champions League is imperative to Arsenal and Arteta's development, and the Gunners boss has insisted that once they're in the competition, the changes won't stop there.

In fact, he's suggested that six things will need to happen to help the club moving forward, including better recruitment of players and staff: "To take the club to the next level and to compete really with the top teams. In order to do that, we have to be playing in the Champions League," he told Arsenal.

"We have to be able to evolve the team, improve our players, improve all departments, generate even more connection with our fans, improve the atmosphere at the Emirates, be able to recruit top, top talent and the best people for this club to drive this project to that level."

Arteta's project has been a slow but steady process. The club have made it clear that they back their manager to succeed, now it's up to him and his players to restore Arsenal to their former glory.
