Mikel Arteta outlines Arsenal's January transfer window plans

Mikel Arteta admits Arsenal are open to doing business in January.

The Gunners boss took charge at the Emirates earlier this month and picked up a point in his first game at Bournemouth .

Arsenal are languishing in the bottom half of the table ahead of their clash with Chelsea and face a huge task in trying to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Arteta has been without a number of players through injury and is focusing on getting them fit, although he is not ruling out bringing in new faces.

"We need players back from injuries, first of all, to be more solid, more compact," he told Sky Sports.

"And then we might need to do one or two things if the right players become available, to help us.

"But at the moment I am more concerned with getting the maximum out of the players available to us."

Arteta concedes Arsenal must win back their supporters after a difficult season, starting with the visit of London rivals Chelsea.

He insists he has a clear direction for his side moving forward, and needs his entire squad to be on board.

"People have to understand that there is this way, and no other way. There are some things non-negotiable," he added.

"That is the organisation and structure. Within that organisation you have freedom. But if somebody doesn't know how to live within these parameters, at this level, it won't work.

"What I have seen is that the players are on board, are willing to be helped, are willing to make sacrifices, and are willing to follow us. They are showing me every time, they want more, want more, and that's a very good signal.

"If the fans can see an identity close to what they are used to seeing with Arsenal, they will be on board."
