Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that he has clear targets in mind for Arsenal ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
The Spaniard arrived at the Emirates Stadium in November knowing that a rebuilding job would be ahead of him after a disappointing few years.
Arsenal sit in 10th place in the Premier League table before the final fixture of the game, but the highest the Gunners can finish this season would be eighth, meaning that they would not qualify for the Europa League.
However, Arteta’s men still do have another chance to play in the competition next season by beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final on August 1 at Wembley Stadium.
The prospect of playing European football would certainly help Arsenal to attract their targets in the window.
Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Thomas Partey and Dayot Upamecano in recent months, and Arteta has hinted that he has specific targets in mind, but didn’t go as far as revealing any names.
"We have to assess that. I am very clear of what we need," Arteta told beIN SPORTS when asked about his transfer plans.
It's not a thing that I want to publish to the media and to the world, it's something that we keep internally.
"But some are because we don't have enough players in the position, sometimes because we need more specificity in some of the positions and in others because we just have to improve."
There has been calls from fans to back the Arsenal boss financially this summer, with a plane recently flying over Villa Park during the Gunners’ game against Aston Villa with a banner reading: “Back Arteta Kroenke out.”
