Arsenal's training session on Tuesday was largely dominated by Calum Chambers' rather surprise return.
But another talking point from events at London Colney was the sighting of Gunners wonderkid Matt Smith.
And it's not the first time since his appointment that head coach Mikel Arteta has invited the youngster to train with first-team stars such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, Granit Xhaka and Nicolas Pepe.
after replacing Unai Emery in the dugout last December and has continued to make regular appearances without making a matchday squad just yet.
He could get the chance if the Premier League season does resume next month as Arteta will likely have to rotate his squad during what's likely to be a fixture congestion.
Having impressed for the U23's this term, it could soon be time for Smith to test himself at the very highest level despite his tender years.
In addition, with Arteta continually getting a closer look at him in training, the future would appear to be bright for the 19-year-old.
At present the Gunners' central midfield options include Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Joe Willock and on-loan Dani Ceballos which means Smith is some way down the pecking order.
Meanwhile, Thomas Partey is being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer which could further affect Smith's chances of game time next season. Although he does offer something different to the Ghana international.
Described by by Arsenal coaches as a "composed midfielder with an eye for a pass" and a player who "typically looks to operate as a deep-lying playmaker, tasked with controlling the tempo of games and picking out runners in the final third".
He will face competition, as he looks to force his way into Arteta’s plans, from the likes of Miguel Azeez in particular as the pair play in similar roles for the youth teams.
But one could argue that he is very close to making a breakthrough which in turn could save the club millions in the transfer market.
