Mikel Arteta makes 'complete dominance' claim after Arsenal beaten by Everton

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta claimed his side had 'complete dominance' over Everton in the second-half of their 2-1 defeat on Saturday evening.

Yerry Mina put the home side back in the lead during first-half stoppage time after Nicolas Pepe had cancelled out a Rob Holding own-goal from the penalty spot.

Arsenal had only two shots on target - one came in the final minute - but under-pressure Arteta claimed they were unlucky to lose the game.

"I am enormously disappointed with the result again," former Everton favourite Arteta told his post-match press conference at Goodison Park.

"We concede an own goal, get back into the game, then concede a set piece which we worked on, but to be fair they are really good at doing.

"From then we had complete dominance. We controlled them really well, they had a few counter-attacks and then we got more and more dangerous in the final third.

"Attacking a low block is complicated. We generated chances but they didn't end up in big chances. Our conversion rate is something we need to improve dramatically.

"When we needed a bit of luck we hit the post and then didn't put our chances away. Today we conceded an own goal. A lot of things are happening at the same time and it is difficult."

When asked about his future, with Arsenal four points above the relegation zone after eight defeats in their opening 14 matches of the Premier League season, Arteta added: "My energy and focus is to get the team out of this situation.

"Obviously there is no question about that, it is not good enough and acceptable for this football club.

"It is a complicated situation but i am encouraged for what I see from the players with what we are trying to do and things we have to improve. We have been very, very unlucky not to pick up more points."
