Mikel Arteta makes bold prediction as he provides details on his Arsenal plan

Mikel Arteta has insisted his Arsenal project will 'bang' by the time he has completed his long-term project.

The Spaniard has gone into detail over how he envisages his time at the Gunners to go.

It comes in his first full season as a manager following his takeover last year midway through the campaign.

During that term, he started his coaching career off in perfect fashion - beating Chelsea in the FA Cup, claiming the scalps of Liverpool and Manchester City along the way.

And a decent transfer window saw the arrivals of Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes and Willian.

It had some onlookers envisaging a good season for the Gunners but that has failed to transpire.

Instead, Arsenal find themselves battling to get into the top 10 but also in the round of 16 of the Europa League, which could provide them a route to the Champions League if they win it.

Regardless, Arteta has insisted that the good times are on the horizon at the Emirates.

"I think this project is going to go 'bang'," said the Spaniard.

"This is where we are but sometimes it is difficult to see the moment now, but I'm sure [of] where we are going.

"We have created a really strong group, a really strong bond with our players, with our fans, with our staff and that is going to pay big in the future.

"If you are not inside the club every day and know exactly what is going on within the club, the only way to convince anybody is to win."

Arsenal's most recent financial figures saw a massive loss of £47.8m, partly down to the coronavirus forcing teams to play in front of empty stadiums.

Arteta added: ”I want a sustainable club. We all want a club that can be run with their own resources. It is great we have the support from our owners.

"We have had that in the summer when it was much needed because of everything that has happened with Covid and what happened at the club in the last three years without the Champions League, and the hit that that took.
