Mikel Arteta lifts lid on mood in Arsenal dressing room as he admits stars are "upset"

Mikel Arteta has admitted his Arsenal players are "upset" with their shocking form since the Premier League restart.

The Gunners were thumped 3-0 by Manchester City in their first match back after three months before losing 2-1 to Brighton.

Arteta is confident his players remain focused they can turn things around. But the Spaniard says they are certainly feeling hurt on the back of recent results.

"It's not about the confidence, it's about being upset and when you know it's your fault you lost the game, I think it hurts much more," said Arteta.

"I see the players willing to get back on Thursday and transform this into a win and everything will be looking much better.

"At the same time, as a group, we have to be dealing with these situations throughout the season.

"You're going to lose one or two games on the trot, how do you react?"

Arteta has struggled with injuries since the restart, and lost both Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari against City.

Bernd Leno was then forced off on a stretcher against Brighton and Gabriel Martinelli suffered a knee injury in training, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Leno's injury isn't as bad as first thought, and he could return before the final day of the campaign, while Xhaka has returned to training.
