Mikel Arteta labelled "harsh" for comments on two ex-Arsenal stars ahead of becoming boss

Mikel Arteta was labelled "harsh" for his comments on two former Arsenal stars, suggesting he's going to be a tough boss to please.

The Spaniard has agreed a three-and-a-half year deal with the north London club, and is expected to be in charge in time for the Everton match.

Gunners fans have been sharing old footage of the midfielder playing for Arsenal, hoping to get an idea on the type of manager he will be.

And one video, from Arsenal's UnClassic Commentary series, captures Arteta and former Gunners star Tomas Rosicky talking over a match against Sunderland from the 2013/14 season.

In the clip Arteta begins by taking a pop at Olivier Giroud.

"Well done Oli, the first one [goal] in the last six months," he says, upon the Frenchman hitting the back of the net.

Rosicky replies: "It's quite surprising that our captain [Arteta at the time] is not in the game, huh?"

To which Arteta adds: "The captain is probably doing defensive work for Tomas Rosicky because he can't run anymore."

Rosicky simply replies: "That's quite harsh, but okay."

Later in the video Rosicky watches himself taking a strike at goal against the Black Cats, and turns to Arteta to ask: "What a shot, what do you think about that, Mikel?"

The future Arsenal manager responds: "I think my older son can shoot harder than that, but that's good try from you my friend!"
