Mikel Arteta issues Bukayo Saka injury update as Jesse Lingard sent message amid Arsenal links

Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Monday, April 12.

Keown sends Slavia Prague warning

Martin Keown has warned Slavia Prague over Arsenal's threat ahead of Thursday's Europa League quarter-final second-leg clash.

The Czech outfit scored a late equaliser in last week's first-leg and now boast an away goal advantage before the showdown in a few days' time.

But the Gunners eased past Sheffield United on Sunday evening and Keown was very impressed with what he saw - and has now issued a warning to Slavia Prague.

Speaking on BT Sport, the ex-Arsenal defender said: “They’re in great form, unbeaten in their own domestic league, but they’ll be looking at that and they’ve had a little taste tonight of what Arsenal are capable of.

"They’ll know if Arsenal turn up then they could be in trouble.

"They’re a good side, they’re resilient and determined. If Arsenal can add that to their game, with a bit of quality then we’re in for a cracker.”

Lingard urged to leave Man United amid Gunners links

Paul Merson has urged Jesse Lingard to leave Manchester United permanently in the summer amid transfer links with Arsenal.

Lingard has been a revelation since moving to West Ham United on loan in January - most recently, scoring twice in the Hammers' 3-2 win over Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

The England international was starved of game time at Old Trafford and could look to leave for good in the summer - something that ex-Gunners midfielder Merson agrees with.

"I don’t see him going back to Manchester United," Merson told Sky Sports. "He wants to play football. He’s gone to West Ham to play football, now he’s got the love back a bit.

"He lost a little bit of the love of the football, I think he lost his way a little bit. Now he’s loving football again, he’s playing.

"You want to play every week. There’s no point him going back to Manchester United and playing in the Carabao Cup games."

Arsenal have been linked with Lingard if they can't complete a deal to bring Martin Odegaard to the Emirates Stadium on a permanent basis.

Arteta issues Saka update

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal will be keeping an eye on Bukayo Saka in the next few days as they wait to find out the extent of his injury he picked up against Sheffield United.

Saka was replaced in the 69th minute of the Gunners' comfortable win at Bramall Lane and had an icepack over his thigh on the bench.

However, Arteta is yet to find out the severity of the injury for the 19-year-old as he looks to get him fit for Thursday's huge Europa League clash with Slavia Prague.

Speaking to the press after the win over the Blades, the Arsenal boss said: "I don't know the extent.

"For Thursday, David and Kieran will be out. Emile and Martin we don't know yet. Let's see how Bukayo develops in the next few days."
