Mikel Arteta handed timely reminder about the wonderkid who could save Arsenal millions

As Arsenal were putting four past Norwich City in the Premier League, Emile Smith Rowe was busy shining in the Championship.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town, earning valuable first-team experience as he bids to show Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta that he's ready to play a key role at the Emirates Stadium next season.

If the Spaniard needed a reminder of how talented the teenager is, he got one on Wednesday evening.

Smith Rowe's loan deal was set to expire at the end of June, but Huddersfield confirmed that they had extended his stay for a further month to ensure that he can play a role in their fight against relegation.

And that decision proved to be the right one.

In a crucial game for Huddersfield in their battle to beat the drop, they beat Birmingham City 3-0 at St Andrew's and Smith Rowe played a starring role.

Well, that's according to a number of Town fans who were waxing lyrical about the Gunners wonderkid on Twitter.

Interestingly there is one comment about Smith Rowe being a regular for the Gunners within the next to years.

Amid links to the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Enis Bardhi, the north London outfit could save millions by giving the academy product more of a prominent role next season.

The 19-year-old has already explained his best position to Arteta.

"I like to be versatile and I can also play in other positions. But I probably would say I do enjoy playing in the No. 10 position the most," Smith Rowe told The National.

"At Arsenal, I look up to Mesut Ozil a lot. I watch him in training and the movement he has and the little touches he does. For me to train with him every day, I can’t think of anything better."
