Arteta gets injury boost
Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson is optimistic he will his race against time to prove his fitness for the FA Cup Final after suffering a groin injury earlier this week.
Nelson missed Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa with the injury and was examined by the club's medical team in the hours before the Gunners travelled north. football.london understands that the injury was not deemed excessively severe and the 20-year-old hopes to resume training next week.
That would mean missing the final Premier League game of the season - a home game against Watford where Mikel Arteta is expected to significantly rotate - but Nelson remains hopeful of being part of the Arsenal squad that takes on Chelsea next Saturday at Wembley.
In all likelihood Nelson would not be among Arteta's starting XI for that game with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe firmly established as the favoured options on the flanks but he could prove to be a valuable addition to the substitutes bench.
Stan Kroenke sent message
Jamie Redknapp has urged Arsenal to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market.
Picking out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz as two players who have thrived under Arteta's management, Redknapp has been impressed by the work the Gunners boss has done since taking charge.
Yet he argued more is needed to progress the team and said that, with the right additions, Arsenal could really be going places under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners have been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.
Redknapp also praised Aubameyang for his superb campaign and said the striker is showing no signs of slowing with age.
"I think Aubameyang's world class, there's not many like him," Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
"He'll be looking at the Golden Boot, he'll be hoping he can get the Golden Boot. He's one of the best players in the world at what he does."

Lacazette opens up on Arteta difference
Alexandre Lacazette has opened up on the differences between Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta.
Emery, who previously led Paris St-Germain to the French league title and won three Europa Leagues with Sevilla, was sacked as Arsenal manager after 18 months in charge back in November.
The Spaniard was relieved of his duties after a poor start to the season after initially taking over from Arsene Wenger back in May 2018.
After a lengthy recruitment process, Arsenal eventually appointed Arteta as their new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year deal just before Christmas.
Arteta had been working as a coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, joining the club in 2016 after retiring as a player.
Since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta has endured mixed fortunes both domestically and in Europe.
However, Lacazette believes the two have “completely different visions” and it is hard to cite the changes that have been made at the club by the former Everton man.
“It is a completely different way to manage a squad, a team, a different tactical vision as well - it is hard to cite all the changes, there are so many."
