Mikel Arteta given ominous Antonio Conte warning as Arsenal face new North London power struggle

Arsenal fans have been warned about the beast that newly-appointed Tottenham boss Antonio Conte can turn Spurs into following the Italian's appointment.

Conte has signed a deal worth £15 million a year (as per The Sun) keeping him at the club until 2023 with the option of an additional year.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss is renowned for his meticulous tactics and stern man-management, qualities which could pose a major threat to the legacy Mikel Arteta is building across the road at the Emirates Stadium.

However, while Conte seems to be an incredible coup for Spurs, Arsenal fans remain divided as to whether their North London rivals now pose a threat to their club.

Tom Canton spoke to Get Italian Football News editor-in-chief Kaustubh Pandey on The Arsenal Way YouTube channel to get the low-down on what Gunners fans can expect from their rivals following Conte's appointment.

Pandey kickstarted the debate by noting that Daniel Levy has drafted Conte in as a boss to transform Spurs' fortunes in the present day rather than building a long-term project like Arteta at Arsenal.

"[Harry] Kane and Son [Heung-min] could catch fire under Conte," he began. "Conte doesn't rebuild a club as a whole, he rebuilds the squad - I say rebuilding because that is what Arteta is trying to do at Arsenal by installing a structure there."

Pandey then detailed the specifics of how Conte had rebuilt sides in the past and what formations Gooners should be wary of now the Italian is back in England.

"Conte sets up a system of his own and it's not like he's very rigid about what system he wants to play," he said.

"We've seen at Inter and Chelsea that he generally likes a back-three but apart from that, he's pretty fluid in what he wants.

"At Chelsea, he had [Nemanja] Matic and [N'Golo] Kante when they attacked and they covered the wide areas in a way. At Inter, he went with a 3-5-2 which in possession became a 4-2-4 - Conte teams usually go into that shape when attacking."

Pandey concluded by sending Arsenal fans a warning that they should be worried about the beast Conte will turn their North London rivals into, despite Canton's disagreements which you can read about here.

"I think the thing at Spurs that has worried me the most is that they're constantly stuck between pressing high up the pitch and sitting deeper so Conte will give them an identity on the pitch.

"They will not be confused between two or three playing styles, they will have one identity. I think purely from a tactical point of view that Arsenal should be worried because Conte is going to change something."
