Mikel Arteta explains why Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette started against Crystal Palace

Mikel Arteta has explained his decision not to make any changes to the Arsenal side that secured a victory against Manchester United for the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

After being rested for the FA Cup victory against Leeds United, Lucas Torreira and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were among those to return to the starting line-up, with the selection the same as the team against United on New Year's Day.

Remarkably, it marked the first time that Arsenal have named an unchanged side in the Premier League for a year - and Arsenal will be hoping it secures back-to-back victories in the league for the first time since August.

Ahead of the match, Arteta was asked if he planned to play with the same team regularly but explained that changes will occur for a variety of situations.

"I want everybody ready. We will make changes all the time, depending on the opponents, depending on the moments of the players but that's the team that I think today can compete better here," he told BT Sport.

As well as that, having in mind that if we need to change the game we have the right players to do that."
