Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has played down his reasons for dropping Bukayo Saka to the bench for the north London derby.
Saka, 18, has been a stand-out player for the Gunners since the restart, and has netted four times and assisted ten this season.
But Arteta dropped the teenager to the bench for Arsenal's biggest match of the campaign against bitter rivals Tottenham this Sunday.
The Gunners boss was asked to explain his decision ahead of the match, and suggested he is merely resting the youngster this weekend.
Arteta told Sky Sports: "He's played a lot of games, we have a lot of games coming up, we have to rotate some players, we had some issues during the week.
"Every week will be a little bit different."
Saka recently penned a new four-year contract at Arsenal, which will keep him at the club until 2024.
Upon signing the deal, the winger said: "London is my home. Arsenal my team.
"I'm so happy to finally announce my contract extension. I love playing for this club and I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
"The hard work continues so I can continue living my dream. God is Great."
Arteta added: "Bukayo is a talented and intelligent young player. He has impressed me with his work ethic and attitude to learn and adapt, and it has paid off in his performances.
"I am excited to continue working with him to develop him further, and for him to help us achieve our goals."
