Mikel Arteta explains Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil omissions for Arsenal vs Norwich City

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to elaborate why Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil are absent once again from his matchday squad.

The Gunners made four changes to the side that defeated Sheffield United in the FA Cup for the home tie with Norwich City, with Arteta confirming was forced to rotate his side due to the hectic schedule.

However, despite the Gunners facing their fifth game in the two weeks since the restart, neither Guendouzi or Ozil were included in the squad.

"We have so many games, the schedule we have been given by the Premier League is crazy. We are playing every three days, I think we are the only team doing that and we have to rotate players," he told BT Sport.

"Everybody is training well, they're trying hard and are willing to play so we must do that. Guendouzi and Ozil? The situation hasn't changed. It's the same as it was last week.

Arsenal have played four consecutive away matches since the restart in all competitions, having not played at the Emirates Stadium since before the coronavirus outbreak.

However, that changes against Norwich in the first of the four remaining home matches - with there still being four left on the road.

"It's been a tough schedule since we've come back from the virus. We've played four away games, which is never easy in this league, and now we are back at home.

"We're glad to be here, obviously we are missing our fans and it's very strange for them not to be here, but we're trying to put on a good performance again.
