Mikel Arteta drops January transfer update amid Layvin Kurzawa to Arsenal rumours

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of not signing any new players in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of players so far this month, with Arsenal looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the run-in as they look to try and close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea, who they face tomorrow in the Premier League.

Chelsea currently sit ten points ahead of Arsenal in the table, but the Gunners have not given up hope of finishing in the top four.

And amid links with Paris Saint-Germain full-back Layvin Kurzawa and RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, Arteta has given a fresh update on the Gunners' transfer plans.

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

“Things haven’t moved. There is nothing new to say. When we have more info we will let you know,” he said, speaking at his pre-match press conference when asked for the latest on Arsenal's attempt to sign PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa.

Meanwhile, Arteta admitted that it is possible that the Gunners may not sign any new players in January, with just 11 days remaining in the winter transfer window.

“That is possible," he said.

"I don’t want to just bring players in, I want them to help the squad.”
