Mikel Arteta delivers verdict on 'aggressive' Arsenal display as midfielder plans transfer talks

Here is the Arsenal morning digest for Friday, December 4.

Arteta reacts to Rapid win

Speaking after the 4-1 win over Rapid Wien, Arteta told BT Sport: "First of all, I am delighted to have the fans back. They made a huge difference. We had 2,000 but they were loud and supportive with the team.

"They were really helpful, so thanks a lot to them for coming and making the effort."

He added: "The performance, right from the start, they were hurt from the previous defeat and they showed the attitude and desire that is required to play.

"We were really aggressive on the ball, we arrived with numbers, we created many chances and now we have another one on Sunday."

Torreira to seek Arsenal talks

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira will reportedly hold talks with the club in the coming days over a permanent switch away from north London.

Tuttosport claims Torreira wants to bring an end to a disappointing loan spell with Atletico Madrid in January.

The Uruguay international moved to Spain in the summer on a season-long loan but has started just two La Liga games this term.

The report claims Torino, who have previously been linked with Torreira, are expressing an interest in the 24-year-old again and that he will hold talks with Arsenal in “the coming days” to inform the club of his desire to leave on a permanent basis.

Seaman backing Arsenal to overcome Spurs

David Seaman is backing Arsenal to beat Tottenham this weekend - even though he cannot see the Gunners keeping a clean sheet.

Mike Arteta's men take on Jose Mourinho's Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm).

Tottenham are top of the Premier League table after 10 matches - just ahead of reigning champions Liverpool on goal difference - while Arsenal are in 14th.

Speaking to The Target Men Podcast by Football Index, former Gunner goalkeeper Seaman said: "The game with Spurs is going to be tough.

"I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet, but I do think we can nick a 2-1 win.

"They (Spurs) are a good unit and they’ve got a great mix of players, especially with their strike force in (Harry) Kane and (Heung-min) Son and now with (Gareth) Bale there as well. It’s going to be a tough ask for an Arsenal team going there with no confidence.

"But with Arsenal, you don’t know what you’re going to get and all I can think of is going to Man United and beating them 1-0 again."
