Mikel Arteta delivers injury update on 5 Arsenal players ahead of Manchester United clash

Mikel Arteta has provided injury updates on several members of his Arsenal squad.

The Gunners' boss was forced to rotate his side heavily over two fixtures against Southampton in the FA Cup and Premier League due to a spate of injuries across the team.

Among the big names facing fitness doubts were Kieran Tierney, Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey, Dani Ceballos and Pablo Mari.

And speaking to the press ahead of the game against Manchester United on Saturday Arteta provided the latest on all of them.

How Odegaard fits in, his favourite Arsenal player and what is next in the transfer market

"We had a day off yesterday. We will be training today and we will see how everybody is," he said.

"I think Dani Ceballos will be training with the squad in the next few days, Pablo Mari probably as well.

"Obviously, Martin Odegaard will be joining us as well. For the rest, we have to see how Kieran is."

The Gunners boss was also pressed on the fitness of Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe who both limped off in Tuesday's 3-1 victory at St. Mary's.

"I don’t know let’s see how they come today," he said. They have some discomfort in different parts Thomas and Emile.

"We will have to see how they evolve. We still have some days until the game, but not long so let’s see how they recover."

Arsenal will be hoping to have all of their key stars available for what is a tricky test at the Emirates on Saturday.

Manchester United may have lost to bottom side Sheffield United on Wednesday, but the Red Devils still provide a threat that Arteta was all too keen to point out.

"We know that it’s going to be really difficult," said the Spaniard.

"They’ve been in top form. They’ve been top of the table playing really well.

"We know they are a real threat. So we have to be at our best to beat them on Saturday."
