Mikel Arteta delivers honest assessment on Arsenal transfer chief Edu ahead of Brighton clash

Mikel Arteta has lauded Arsenal technical director Edu.

The Brazilian endured a busy summer transfer window, offloading the likes of Willian, Joe Willock and Matteo Guendouzi whilst also signing six players - splashing more than £140million in the process.

The Gunners added Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Nuno Tavares, Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard to their ranks, all of who are 23-years-old or younger.

Now, Arteta has praised Edu and their relationship, claiming that the two work extremely well together, even in tough moments.

The Spaniard told Sky Sports: "When we had difficult moments he (Edu) has been the best because difficult moments is when you see the real face of people, who they are, what their values are and if you share those values or not.

"We have worked together incredibly well.

"Having to make so many decisions that I'm sure in football is not easy to not clash. We've done it in a great way and I'm so proud of the people that we have in our organisation.

"When I talk about unity it is because unity brings synergy and that happens with Edu or the CEO or my players.

"Then there is something that comes up that is 1+1 is not 2, it sometimes is 3 and why is it? It is because this (unity) exists and what happened in the stadium the other day (the north London derby) is exactly that."

Arteta's side are currently on an impressive run, winning their last four goals across all competitions, conceding just once in the process.

They will face off against Graham Potter's Brighton on Saturday evening as they hope to continue their climb up the Premier League table.
