Mikel Arteta could unleash a £208m Arsenal attack if Edu completes £17.3m transfer

Arsenal are once again being linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt.

Prior to signing Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid in the January transfer window, the Gunners were interested in bringing the Germany international to the Emirates Stadium.

As reported by football.london, Arsenal are keen on signing the Norway international permanently at the end of the season, but it would appear that alternative plans are being made in case an agreement with Los Blancos can't be reached.

According to Bild, via Sport Witness, the north London outfit are keen on Brandt who is reportedly not averse to a new challenge and Dortmund would be willing to accept a fee in the region of £17.3m.

This development comes after Bild reported last month that the decision-makers at the Signal Iduna Park would be open to letting the Germany international leave.

Furthermore, the report states that incoming Dortmund head coach Marco Rose will have the final say on Brandt's future as if he does not consider the attacking midfielder to be a part of his plans, he could well be on the move in the summer.

Should Arsenal technical director Edu complete a £17.3m transfer, it would provide Mikel Arteta with another creative option in his first-team squad.

In addition, the Gunners manager could also unleash an attack worth over £200m.

A scenario that sees Brandt join Arsenal would allow Arteta to pick the German alongside Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe, behind captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a 4-2-3-1 formation for particular games.

Based on each of the quartet's estimated transfer values on CIES Football Observatory, that is €240m (£208m) worth of talent.

Admittedly, the reason this proposed attack would be worth the aforementioned figure is solely down to one player.

Saka is currently the most valued player in the Arsenal squad, according to the CIES algorithm as his estimated transfer value is between €120-€150m.

Pepe is next with a valuation of €40m-€50m, Aubameyang is at €30m-€40m, while Brandt's €50-€70m valuation pushes the total past the €200m mark.
