Mikel Arteta believes Tottenham have an advantage over Arsenal ahead of the North London Derby

Mikel Arteta has revealed the advantage he thinks Tottenham have over Arsenal going into the North London Derby.

His side were sublime on Thursday night as they coasted to a 4-1 victory over Rapid Vienna to secure top spot in their Europa League group.

Alternatively Spurs looked underwhelming in a 3-3 draw away to Austrian side LASK, and now face a shootout in their final game against Royal Antwerp for a chance of winning group J.

However, the Arsenal manager admitted he feels that Jose Mourinho 's side will have the upper hand when the two meet on Sunday.

Arsenal 4 - 1 Rapid Vienna: Mikel Arteta post-match press conference

This weekend's round of Premier League fixtures will see fans return to some Premier League grounds for the first time since March after a nationwide lockdown came to an end on Wednesday.

Among the venues allowed to host up to 2,000 spectators will be the Tottenham Hotspur stadium where Arsenal will travel to play in the North London Derby. Away fans will not be in attendance.

The Gunners had fans back themselves for their victory over Rapid Vienna, and it made a visible difference on the team. Where in previous home games Mikel Arteta 's side have looked sluggish and slow out of the blocks, they were red hot from the very beginning, racing into a 3-0 lead before half time thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Pablo Mari and Eddie Nketiah.

Speaking in his press conference after the game the Spaniard admitted he thinks Spurs will have the extra edge from having fans in the ground.

"Well probably, because this sport without fans is completely different and everything is flat" he said when asked if Jose Mourinho's men have the advantage.

"The players lose a bit of purpose and emotion and it’s something you want to share at the end of the day we are here to entertain, we are here to make the fans enjoy.

"They have a huge passion for our football club and when they are able to transmit that that gets directly into the players.

"And yeah for me to have them here playing at home or away it’s always different and it’s just because of them."

Regardless of who is in attendance Arsenal face an uphill battle on Sunday based on form alone.

Tottenham currently sit top of the league having scored the most goals and conceded the least, with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son looking in devastating from.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are 14th in the table and have their worst ever points tally after 10 games in a Premier League season.
