Mikel Arteta and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have both brought in a number of new signings since arriving at their respective clubs.
Both managers are under pressure to constantly succeed and, as a result, have had to freshen up their squads at Arsenal and Manchester United by bolstering their squads.
The Arsenal boss has recently surpassed the £200million mark with the acquisitions of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid and Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United.
Solskjaer has undeniably spent more than his counterpart during his 33-month tenure at Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether the extra expense been worthwhile.
Here, Mirror Sport compares the two managers different signings since taking the reins.
2019-20 season
After being appointed at the Emirates in late December 2019, Arteta got to work on his squad right away by bringing in two fresh faces during the January transfer window.
Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari arrived on six-month loan deals, before the pair later signed for the club on a permanent basis in the summer.
The Portuguese right-back made just five league appearances, while Spanish defender Mari was used just twice in the Premier League by Arteta.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer splashed out on Harry Maguire - who became the world’s most expensive defender after joining the club in a deal worth £80million.
The England defender became the first outfield Red Devils player to feature in every minute of United’s 38 Premier League games since 1995.
Maguire proved a worthy addition to the side, helping United on their way to a third-placed finish in the league, but the central defender lacked a solid partner with concerns over Victor Lindelof's consistency.
Bruno Fernandes arrived in the January and proved he was a world-class talent almost immediately, ending the campaign with eight goals and seven assists in just 14 league appearances.
The United boss also signed Odion Ighalo as a backup striker on loan from Shanghai Shenhua but the Nigerian proved to be an able deputy, scoring some key goals in the Europa League.
Solskjaer undeniably splashed the cash over the course of the season, but in signing two world-class operators in Maguire and Fernandes, the Norwegian justified his spending.

After a disappointing eighth-placed finish, Arteta forked out to capture Thomas Partey and Gabriel, who arrived for a combined total of almost £70m.
Partey arrived after a making a name for himself in Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side, but both he and Gabriel have found their first season in England difficult.
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans had high hopes for Willian, who moved across London on a free transfer following seven successful seasons with Chelsea.
However, things did not work out in the way it was hoped for the Brazilian and it appeared he was very much past his prime when he finished the season with just one goal in 37 appearances.
Solskjaer excited many by acquiring PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer Edinson Cavani, who adjusted well to life in the Premier League with 17 goals in his first season.
Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek and Alex Telles – who moved from Ajax and Porto - struggled to adapt to the physicality and pace of the English game and have been confined to the bench.
2021-22 season
Arteta has once again splashed the cash this summer and his side are the Premier League’s biggest spenders after forking out £129m on five players.
New signing Odegaard showed glimpses of what he is capable of during his previous loan spell at the Emirates, but Gunners fans will be eager to see more.
English duo Ben White and Ramsdale arrive in north London after successful seasons at their previous club, but they will have to contend with the added pressure of performing at a high level on a consistent basis.
Arsenal fans will also be keen to see more of new arrivals Albert Sami Lokonga and Nuno Tavares after they made their Premier League debuts in the disappointing 2-0 defeat at Brentford.
There has been no expense spared at United this summer either, with Solskjaer bringing in Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for £73m and £35m respectively.
Frenchman Varane arrives in the Premier League after a stellar career with Los Blancos which has seen him win just about every major trophy in world football.
Meanwhile, Sancho returns to England after setting the Bundesliga alight with his ability, leaving United with plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the long season ahead.
