Mikel Arteta and Edu can grant Arsenal fans' dream January transfer signing but on one condition

Arsenal fans have had their say regarding the club's transfer plans this month.

Manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu certainly have been working hard since the January window opened - fulfilling their promise to trim the first-team squad by allowing Sead Kolasinac, William Saliba, Matt Macey, and Sokratis to leave on loan or temporarily.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have brought in two new faces in the shape of Omar Rekik and Mat Ryan - the latter joining on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the season.

But there's still time for at least one more signing - as well as Mesut Ozil's exit - as deadline day is not until 11pm on Monday 1 February 2021.

Since the transfer window opened, the Gunners have been linked with a host of creative midfielders.

Most notably Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt, Real Madrid's Isco, and former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, who has been placed on the transfer list at Inter Milan.

With that said, a deal for Martin Odegaard is inching closer and closer to completion as the Norway international is set to join on loan for the remainder of the season.

However, the 22-year-old is not Arsenal fans' dream January signing.

That honour goes to Norwich City's Emi Buendia instead.

football.london gave Arsenal fans the chance to name their dream signing in the January window and the Argentine playmaker won by a landslide.

As seen in the graphic below, Buendia got 40% of the vote, whilst Brandt was the second popular choice coming in with 194 votes (27%).

Interestingly, Yves Bissouma - tipped to be Thomas Partey's perfect midfield partner - comes in last with 10% as perhaps fans are willing to wait until the summer to prioritise the Brighton ace.

And judging by less than 90 votes for Isco and Eriksen shows how little interest there was in the more experienced pair.

The bad news for Arsenal fans dreaming of Buendia signing this month is that the option has already been ruled out by Norwich manager Daniel Farke.

Although, the good news is that Mundo Deportivo states the 24-year-old's representatives will travel to London in the coming weeks to initiate talks with the Gunners regarding a potential deal in the summer transfer window.

Therefore Arteta and Edu can grant Arsenal fans their dream January signing - but on the condition that they are willing to wait a few more months.
