Mikel Arteta is putting his own spin on Arsenal this summer as he attempts to continue his turnaround at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners boss is closing in on his second signing of the summer, with Gabriel Magalhaes set to join the club in the coming days after Arsenal beat off competition from Napoli and Manchester United for the defender.
But it may not only be players that Arteta is adding to the club this summer.
According to the Evening Standard, Arteta is looking to make Brentford coach Andreas Georgson part of his backroom staff at the Emirates Stadium.
The departure of Freddie Ljungberg, who has departed the club to pursue his own managerial career, has led to the Arsenal boss stepping up his pursuit of the Bees’ coach this summer.
A formal move is said to be in its early stages, but the Swede will bring a specific skill set should he arrive at Arsenal.
At Brentford, Georgson is a set piece coach, as explained by the man himself when he arrived at Griffin Park last year.
“It will never be exactly the same, but I am, after all, an assistant coach and just like at MFF (Malmo), my focus should be on set pieces and individual training – so it does not differ so much,” he told Fotbolldirekt .
Arsenal have had issues with set-pieces over the past season, and it could be an area that Arteta is looking to improve by bringing Georgson to the club.
