Mikel Arteta admits he's 'worried' by Arsenal's form

Mikel Arteta has revealed his concern over Arsenal's current form.

The Gunners sit 14th in the Premier League having lost their last three home games. They have their worst ever Premier League points tally after seven games.

The results have piled the pressure on the Arsenal manager who admitted that he may well be sacked by the club.

Speaking ahead of the Gunners' game against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League Mikel Arteta admitted he is fearful over his teams form.

"I'm really worried about the results and the margins that we are losing games" he said.

"Because when we analyse the games afterwards 'why are we losing these games when they are so tight?'.

"There is a reason that sometimes you win it and sometimes you lose it but we need to recover. Sometimes it's a lack of confidence in certain moments because we conceded as well, probably it's not our standards.

"Then obviously the goals we need to score to win football matches more consistently. When you compare what Wolves did and what we did in a normal scenario we should not lose that game."

Goal scoring has been a huge problem for Arsenal Only Burnley, West Brom and Sheffield United have scored less than the Gunners who have created the fourth least chances in the division.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has managed to net just once from open play, while other strikers Alexandre Lacaztte and Eddie Nketiah have also been out of form in the league.

Arteta insisted that goals would come if Arsenal can find more quality in the attacking areas however.

"I try to work as hard as I possibly can to believe that there's going to be a change tomorrow. I think it's the first time in the Premier League that we put 33 crosses.

"I'm telling you that if we do that more consistently we're going to score more goals. If we put the bodies that we had in certain moments in the game in the box, it's maths, pure maths and it will happen.

"It's how consistently we can do that with what level of quality. There we are. We will keep trying."

He'll be hoping to put his side's poor form right when the Gunners host Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Arsenal have been impressive in the competition winning all four of their opening group games in Europe for the first time since 2005 and qualifying with two games to spare.
