Mikel Arteta admits he's keen for Arsene Wenger's help after Jurgen Klopp spat

Mikel Arteta was clearly not intimidated when his Arsenal side visited Anfield on Saturday.

The Arsenal boss erupted on the sidelines as he argued with Jurgen Klopp after Takehiro Tomiyasu went down following an aerial challenge from Sadio Mane.

It was a learning experience for the Gunners boss, as the moment lifted the Anfield crowd and helped the home team pull away and claim a 4-0 win.

It was perhaps the sort of incident a more experienced head may have stayed away from, and maybe why Gunners legend Arsene Wenger has been linked with making a return to the club.

Elsewhere Alexandre Lacazette's contract negotiations rumble on as the club faces the prospect of losing the forward for nothing when his contract expires next summer.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Arsenal headlines.

Wenger 'set for return'

Gunners boss Arteta has said he hopes to bring Arsene Wenger back into the fold at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger enjoyed a glittering career at the club, building his legendary Invincibles side as well as claiming three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and the Community Shield seven times during his 22-year reign at the club.

And Arteta has spoken about his hopes of getting the legendary Arsenal manager back involved with the club's day-to-day runnings.

Lacazette's contract demands

Alexandre Lacazette has been on fire in recent weeks and has become a key part of Mikel Arteta's side.

Arteta has now addressed the situation, and hinted he's happy to keep playing the forward despite his failure to commit his long-term fuure to the Gunners.

The Arsenal coach's sideline bust-up with Jurgen Klopp lit the Anfield touch paper in their Saturday encounter.

The controversial moment helped swing the momentum in Liverpool's favour as the angered home crowd directed their frustrations towards lifting their team.

And it worked as the Reds romped to a 4-0 win.

Arteta has now spoken about the incident – and whether he's let himself be drawn into a similar situation ever again.
