Mikel Arteta has admitted Arsenal bosses gave him no say on whether the club should be included on the upcoming Amazon series ‘All or Nothing’.
The Gunners will follow Manchester City and Tottenham by having cameras record their every moment in what promises to be a pivotal season at the Emirates.
Arteta’s squad go into the 2021/22 campaign having missed out on European football for the first time in 25 years.
The Spaniard knows there needs to be a vast improvement on-the-pitch, but will also have to contend with potential distractions off it.
Having been involved in the series which focused on City, Arteta is fully aware of what the recording may include - but admits he wasn’t consulted prior to the decision to appear.
Asked whether he was given a choice, he told Goal: “No. It’s a decision made by the club, in the best possible interests of the football club.
“We need to help as much as possible.
“I experienced it a few years ago when I was at Man City and we are going to help as much as possible, for everybody to see what this club means and how things are done at the football club.”
The Arsenal boss appears to have no issues with the decision however, believing the upcoming season could be the perfect chance to display the club’s values.
He added: “[We will] be as transparent as we can to show the values, integrity, passions and where we are trying to drive this football club. Hopefully it is a perfect year to show that.
“We need to make it happen. It is down to us to try to produce the best piece that we can, so everybody can feel part of what we do and our fans can be proud of what we do.”
Arsenal’s Premier League campaign gets underway on Friday night when they face newly-promoted Brentford in the top-flight’s first game.
And Arteta has promised that his team will be themselves, despite the addition of several hundred cameras and producers.
“While they are here we are going to try to be us,” he vowed. “We will not try to be somebody else.
“We will try to be us and show what we do. That’s it.”
