Mikel Arteta admits Arsenal board have left him in the dark over transfers this January

Mikel Arteta has admitted he doesn't know whether the Arsenal board are planning to provide significant investment this January.

The Arsenal manager is keen to strengthen his side this month, and according to reports.

But he doesn't know how much cash he'll get to splash, and is, for the time being at least, solely focusing on the players already at the club.

"I don't know, I'm not expecting big things," said Arteta, when asked if they board is planning to bankroll him this month.

"I'm expecting big things from the players I have at the moment, the players that are recovering from injuries.

"That's the biggest expectations from my side, they're there.

"If we can find something to help us go through the season in a more balanced way in certain areas, and is helpful, we'll look at the options."

The Gunners have won two of their opening four fixtures under Arteta, and are showing obvious signs of improvement.

But Arteta isn't resting on his laurels, and would like to add new players to the mix in the near future.

"Yeah, we always have to be looking because obviously we have some bad injuries for players who are going to be out for a long time," Arteta added.

"We have to see if we can find options there."
