Mikel Arteta addresses Arsenal's Thomas Partey injury blow as LA Galaxy eye swoop for Mesut Ozil

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Arteta addresses Thomas Partey injury blow

Arsenal's defeat to Aston Villa wasn't just a blow in terms of the scoreline, as the Gunners also lost Thomas Partey at half-time due to injury.

Mikel Arteta's deadline day signing was a significant loss, with his absence felt in the second half, and his departure from the game left fans bemoaning their perceived injury curse.

Fans were understandably concerned about how long they could be without the Ghana international and Arteta spoke about the injury after the match.

"We don't know, we have to scan him tomorrow or the day after."

Willian and Lacazette woes

Mikel Arteta has some big calls to make after the international break in regards to his first-choice XI, which could see a shake-up in attack.

Both Willian and Alexandre Lacazette have flattered to deceive recently and that was the same story against Villa, with the pair both amongst the worst performers.

Whether that leads to more opportunities for the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson in a few weeks time remains to be seen but there is certainly room for improvement.

Our Arsenal man Chris Wheatley gave his assessment of the match, with Lacazette and Willian his lowest-rated players.

LA Galaxy eye Mesut Ozil

MLS outfit Los Angeles Galaxy are eyeing a move for Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil ahead of the expiration of his contract at the end of season, according to reports.

The Germany World Cup winner is surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium, having been left out of the squads for both the Premier League and Europa League.

Ozil has likely kicked his last ball for Arsenal and an exit at the end of the season is likely, when the former Real Madrid man's lucrative contract comes to a close.

There have been plenty of rumours surrounding potential destinations for Ozil, including Turkey, but it's now stated a move Stateside could be on the cards.
