Mike Zimmer rained on the Kyle Sloter hype

After Sunday’s preseason game in which Kyle Sloter was 11-for-13, throwing for 116 yards and a touchdown.

That led to many Vikings fans continuing to drive and hop on the “Kyle Sloter For Backup Quarterback” bandwagon.

One person who probably isn’t on that bandwagon, it sounds like, is Vikings coach Mike Zimmer.

“He’s got to get a lot better in a lot of the other parts of being a quarterback,” Zimmer said Tuesday. “Making the right checks, getting people in the right formation, making sure the motion is there, not missing the time clock when it’s eight yards in front of you. There’s a lot of things that he has to get better at if he wants to be the backup quarterback.”

With two preseason games remaining, it looks like Sean Mannion is the team’s backup quarterback, although, it would be a huge surprise if Sloter didn’t make the team as the third-string quarterback.
