Free agency hasn’t lacked any drama.
Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr was a big reason why as he flip-flopped his decision to join the Jet and instead will return to the Vikings.
The biggest reason for Barr returning might be because of the only NFL head coach he’s ever known. Mike Zimmer.
“(He played) a huge role. Coach Zim, that is my guy. I’d go to war for him any day. You all see him as a football coach but he is so much more than that,” Barr said Thursday. “He treats us like his children. He demands a lot and I wouldn’t want it any other way so I owe him a lot and a big reason why I returned is because of Coach.”
Zimmer took Barr with his first draft pick as a coach, ninth-overall in 2014. Since, Barr has rewarded Zimmer and the Vikings with four Pro-Bowl appearances.
While Zimmer is tough, he’s well respected by his players and this is evidence of that.
