Mike Zimmer is considering kicking coach for Vikings

As we’ve documented, the Vikings have had their fair share of kicking problems throughout the years.

We don’t need to go through them all. Gary Anderson in 1998. Blair Walsh. Daniel Carlson. It’s a curse.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said on Thursday at the combine that the team has considered hiring a kicking coach.

“[It’s] the technique and seeing a little flaw here or a little flaw there,” Zimmer said via the Star Tribune. “As you know, we’ve struggled finding the kicker or consistency at that position, especially, and I go back and I think about the three kicks [that Daniel Carlson missed] in Green Bay and when Blair Walsh missed that 27-yarder and how much that affected the organization.”

The Vikings still need a kicker, and per new offensive coordinator Marwan Maalouf, the Vikings are considering all options.

With the Vikings ready to win now, they can’t have another lost season in which they lose games due to the kicking game.
