Mike Vrabel is second-longest tenured head coach of Titans era

Head coaches have had a tough time sticking around for more than a few years during the Tennessee Titans era and after the tenure of Jeff Fisher, but head coach Mike Vrabel is breaking that mold.

As Vrabel enters his fourth season with the team, he becomes the second longest-tenured head coach of the Titans era, breaking a tie with Mike Munchak, who spent three seasons with the team from 2011-13.

Of course, Vrabel still has a ways to go until he can catch Fisher, who spent 17 years with the franchise from 1994-2010, 12 of which came after the team became the Tennessee Titans.

It’s safe to say the hiring of Vrabel has been a success. The Titans haven’t finished with a record below .500 in any season, have made the playoffs twice — including a trip to the AFC Championship Game — and notched their first division title and double-digit win season since 2008 in 2020.

Vrabel originally signed a five-year contract back in 2018, so his current deal runs through 2022. However, we expect that he and general manager Jon Robinson will sign extensions before their contracts run out.

Going into 2021, expectations for the Titans might be the highest they have ever been during the Vrabel-Robinson era, as it’s Super Bowl or bust in Nashville for this coming campaign.
