Mike Vrabel continues hands-on approach with Titans OLB D’Andre Walker

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has been known for his hands-on approach and involvement since he originally assumed his current position with the team.

And it’s apparent he’s going to continue using that method with incoming players.

Vrabel spent some one-on-one time coaching up newly drafted fifth-round pick D’Andre Walker during the team’s rookie mini-camp that ran through this weekend.

Vrabel played the same position in his professional career as a linebacker, and the 6-foot-2, 251-pounder was grateful for the insight he had to offer.

Walker hopes to match Vrabel’s greatness in his own career.

“He played my position, and he was a great player,” Walker said. “And eventually, hopefully, I’ll become a great player as well.”

Walker still has some improvements to make within his technique and getting quicker overall as a player, but could make his presence know early on by working as a rotational edge-bending rusher before he’s ready for the responsibilities of a starting position.

He was key on defense in his last two years with the Bulldogs, recording 85 tackles, 24.5 for loss, 13 sacks, five forced fumbles and four interceptions.

It will be interesting to see how much he’s able to grow within Dean Pees’ defense in the coming seasons.
