Mike Tyson will try to knock out Roy Jones Jr despite ring return being exhibition

Mike Tyson will go for the knockout against Roy Jones Jr - despite the match being billed as an exhibition.

The Baddest Man on the Planet will return to the ring for the first time since 2005 - where he was beaten by Kevin McBride in seven rounds.

Iron Mike will take on Jones Jr on November 28 in Los Angeles with eight two-minute rounds scheduled.

Tyson has been called the best heavyweight boxer of all-time after some ferocious knockouts in his prime.

In total, he has knocked out 44 fighters during his legendary career at this weekend he will try to add to that number - despite the rules saying otherwise.

According to California State Athletic Commission, the match has been billed as an exhibition and so neither fighter should be looking for a stoppage.

But with Tyson in the ring, enforcing that could prove difficult with his coach Rafael Cordeiro has admitted Iron Mike will be going in to fight.

“Two legends in the ring, they both are going for the finish,” Cordeiro said in an interview with MMA Fighting.

“The fight has three judges [sic] and a referee, so it’s a real fight and must have a winner.

"It’s no longer an exhibition, someone has to win. We’ll try to win from start to finish.

"Mike is not going there for an exhibition, he’s going there to fight.

“We’re on a sparring week in the gym and that’s it. That’s something he really enjoys. No one spars a full month for an exhibition. It will be a real fight.

"We respect Roy because Roy is coming for a real fight, and that’s what makes this match so different. They are both coming for a real fight.”

Meanwhile, boxing promoter Frank Warren has dismissed the fight as sad.

“It's on BT and I work with BT. For me, I have no interest in it,” Warren said.

“By interest I mean I don't like the idea of guys that age fighting. I know it's going to be a so-called exhibition match but I have no interest.

“They're obviously doing it for money and I think it's quite sad they're doing what they're doing. They should not be doing it, boxing is a young mans game."
