Most people joke about having “dad strength” after a kid is born, and perhaps Los Angeles Angels megastar Mike Trout is proof of that.
The outfielder wasn’t his usual MVP-candidate self to start the season, with just one home run and four RBIs before he took some days off to be there for the birth of his son, Beckham Aaron Trout.
Since his return, he’s been off-the-charts hot: in August, he’s hit .367 with an OPS of 1.373. He’s hit six dingers, knocked in 10 RBI, including a pair of homers on Monday night to lift the Angels over the contending Oakland A’s 10-9.

His manager Joe Maddon notices a difference. From MLB.com:
“He’s more relaxed,” Angels manager Joe Maddon said. “He had such a big concern of him and his wife regarding the birth and the virus and everything else surrounding it, so he’s coming out the other side of that. He’s playing with more mental freedom, and just like (Anthony) Rendon, he can stay hot.”
And yes, Trout addressed dad strength:
“People ask me about this dad power, and I guess it’s a thing,” Trout said with a laugh. “But there’s no better feeling than being a father.”
