Mike Tomlin on the Steelers 0-3 start: ‘Our business is winning and we haven’t been good at business’

Time is running for Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. He’s on the verge of losing control of the season, his team and the fanbase. In press conferences, Tomlin is typically short on sizzle and heavy on cliche. This week’s press conference was no different but with the team sitting at 0-3 is this what people want to hear?

We recognize that football is our game; our business is winning. And we haven’t been good at business…There’s more meat on the bone for all of us and we’ve all gotta look within and analyze what we’re doing into the quality with which we’re doing it.

More meat on the bone? I’m not entirely sure what the metaphor was here except that there are more games to play. But let’s be honest, there aren’t many more meaningful games to play if the Steelers don’t win this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Even before the Steelers lost Ben Roethlisberger to injury this team was out of sorts. Despite the mantra of shutting out the noise and just focusing on football, Pittsburgh looks like a team without proper leadership and direction.
