Mike Tomlin needs to reverse west coast trend of losing

Historically, one of the things working to the advantage of the Pittsburgh Steelers when it comes to the schedule is geography. Often times, the Steelers get credit for the fewest miles flown by any NFL team and there’s no denying the advantage this has.

Going along with this, when the Steelers do have to travel, things don’t always work out well. This is particularly true of the west coast. Under head coach Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh has traveled to out west six times and only has a 1-5 record. For whatever reason, the Oakland Raiders seem to be the bane of Tomlin’s existence, going 0-3 during that stretch.

This season, Pittsburgh will travel out west twice, once to take on the Los Angeles Chargers and another to go against the San Francisco 49ers. Fortunately for Pittsburgh, Neither game is an early start which only compounds the time change even more.

Hopefully, the Steelers can shake off this trend because this schedule doesn’t cut Pittsburgh any breaks.
